Amanda has over 15 years' professional experience, including an extensive track record in advising startup companies and working in developing technologies. Amanda routinely advises companies on their overall patent strategy and portfolio management, including handling the prosecution of multinational series of patent applications. Amanda also has experience in handling due diligence and freedom to operate matters.
Amanda's client base ranges from academic institutions, including University College London and Oxford University Innovation, through small companies, in particular startup companies, to large multinational organisations based in Europe and further afield. Amanda's work focuses on the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors, including medical sensors and other medical equipment, but she also has experience in a broad range of chemical technologies including polymers, alloys and glasses.
Amanda also routinely represents clients at opposition before the European Patent Office, acting for either patentee or opponent. Amanda's experience extends to handling a number of multi-party oppositions, including the successful defence of the European patent relating to Genzyme's Mozobil drug.
Amanda joined J A Kemp in 1998 and became a partner in 2008. She is a Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) “IP Star”.
