Carsten is part qualified as a patent attorney. For his undergraduate degree, Carsten received recognition for high achievement in the form of scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. During his PhD, he enjoyed collaborating with his industrial sponsor, Syngenta, and assisted patent attorneys there. He led a winning team in a Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme, producing a hypothetical business plan on the use of a fungus to improve maize drought tolerance. Carsten joined J A Kemp as a trainee patent attorney in 2014. He is a fluent German speaker.
