James obtained his MChem degree from New College, Oxford in 2011 before being awarded a prestigious Cancer Research UK Prize Studentship to undertake doctoral research. His DPhil project focussed on the development of colorimetric and fluorescent probes for the detection and quantification of a breast cancer biomarker within cellular samples. James was awarded several national and international prizes for his academic research and has experience across a broad range of disciplines, including medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology, cell biology, photochemistry and computational chemistry.

James joined J A Kemp as a Trainee Patent Attorney in 2015, and works in our London office. His work involves the filing and prosecution of patent applications in all areas of chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
