Kapil is part-qualified as a patent attorney and has experience of filing and prosecuting patent applications in fields including antibody technologies, biofuels and plant biotechnology/genetics. Based on his PhD in the early development and molecular programming of blood, he also has particular interest and experience in patent work in the area of stem cells, acting for US and Japanese based companies and academic institutions. In this regard, he handles a variety of stem cell technologies, for example relating to therapies derived from amniotic fluid and the production of various tissues from reprogrammed cells.
He works with a range of clients and has experience of prosecuting and monitoring patent families in the European Patent Office and across other countries worldwide. He has also participated in oral proceedings at the Opposition Division at the European Patent Office, including supporting a large team on a high-profile Opposition defence involving parallel infringement litigation in two European countries, and assisting on a complex plant genetics matter.
Kapil is based at our London office, but also works from our Oxford office.
