Charlotte Stirling

Partner, UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney

Charlotte is a highly experienced trade mark attorney, having worked in the profession for over 20 years. Her clients come from a diverse range of sectors including pharmaceuticals, communications and media, and financial services.

Charlotte is experienced in advising clients on all aspects of trade mark clearance, filing and registration, as well as enforcement. Charlotte is also experienced in enforcing clients' IP rights in the online sphere including handling proceedings before ICANN and Nominet.

She is often involved in contentious trade mark work, providing clients with pragmatic, commercially focused advice on protecting, defending and developing the value of their brands.

Charlotte is recognised as a "Trade Marks Expert" by Expert Guides and is recommended by World Trademark Review 1000, where clients comment that "The advice rendered by Charlotte is crystal clear and her work is top-notch." She is “extremely proactive and cost-conscious” and “she consistently distinguishes herself from other outside counsel because of her exceptional quality work.” Clients say she is “fantastic to work with”, a trade mark attorney who “conducts her own business research to inform her recommendations and is highly proactive in that sense”. Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) also notes that Charlotte is "creative and insightful", according to a client, who adds that "she consistently delivers results and is one of our strongest counsel outside the US". She is also recommended by The Legal 500, where she is described as "organised, professional, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with." Clients go on to say that she is "a fantastic trade mark attorney, offering real, practical advice, proposing solutions instead of simply identifying problems." Charlotte was also highly recommended by WIPR in its inaugural UK Trademarks Rankings of leading firms and practitioners 2024.

Charlotte joined J A Kemp in 2008 and became a partner in 2014.
