Leading IP Litigator, Alan Bryson, Joins J A Kemp as Head of Litigation Group

10 February 2015

J A Kemp is boosting its capabilities for handling litigation work with the appointment of experienced IP litigator and barrister, Alan Bryson, to head its newly expanded Litigation Group. The firm 's enhanced resources in the litigation field will complement its existing strengths in patent and trade mark prosecution, appeals, oppositions and portfolio management. This is the first time a patent and trade mark attorney firm has brought in a barrister from private practice to bolster its legal firepower.

Alan, who previously practised with leading Chancery and Commercial set, Wilberforce Chambers, was also an IP partner with Clifford Chance for 17 years. He has extensive court experience, having been involved with some of the most notable infringement cases, trade secret litigation and arbitration. He is a CEDR-accredited mediator.

Alan's expertise will allow J A Kemp to offer complete and cost-effective litigation support to clients, including the conduct of litigation in the English Courts. This will include more litigation for small to mid-sized businesses in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.

Andrew Webb, Chairman of J A Kemp's management committee, said:

"Alan will help us take our litigation offer to the next level and we are pleased and proud to have him with us. The IP litigation scene is going through a period of significant and exciting change, and his arrival means we can stay at the forefront, helping our clients whatever their needs.

"Running litigation with the largest full-service law firms can be prohibitively expensive for many companies, but there is a gap in the market for cost-effective - and cost-conscious - litigation services. We can deliver these while retaining the dedicated, personal approach for which J A Kemp is renowned."
