Jade Cheng

European and UK Patent Attorney

Jade is a European and UK Patent Attorney. She obtained a BSc and a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol where she subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher investigating defective cell division.

Following this Jade became a career development fellow at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge researching endocytosis and the blood-brain barrier, with particular emphasis on elucidating the processes involved in the delivery of antibodies from the blood into the brain.

Jade has published in several journals, which include first-author papers and review articles written throughout her time as an undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-doctoral researcher. She also has experience studying mechanisms of cell signalling, meiosis, oocyte development, and structural biology. During her time as a post-doctoral researcher Jade has chaired conferences and spoken at International meetings.

Jade’s work involves drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, including those with a focus on diagnostics and personalised medicine.

Jade joined J A Kemp as a trainee patent attorney in 2016 and is based in the London office. She is a fluent speaker of Cantonese.
