Meg is a European Patent Attorney. She obtained her undergraduate degree in molecular biology and biotechnology from the University of Liverpool, where she was awarded the ‘Molecular Biology Prize’ in her second year and the ‘Kirby Johnson Prize’ in her final year for achieving the highest marks. During her undergraduate studies, Meg completed two summer research studentships, one of which was funded by the Wellcome Trust and focused on bacteriophages infecting Salmonella. Covering a wide range of topics, Meg’s undergraduate studies included biological chemistry, genetics, virology, microbiology, cell biology and voluntary modules in calculus and the physics of life.
Meg then studied for an MPhil/MRes in molecular microbiology/virology at the University of Cambridge, involving the isolation of novel bacteriophages that infect clinically relevant strains of pseudomonas aeruginosa, which was partly funded by the MRC and The Dog’s Trust. During her time as a Masters student, Meg chaired a conference session at the Microbiology Society Annual Conference in Edinburgh, organised a student professional development conference and acted as the student editor for the monthly publication produced by The Biochemical Society.
Meg joined J A Kemp's London office in 2019, having spent 18 months working elsewhere in a private practice. She obtained a Distinction in the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary, University of London in 2020. During her time in the profession, Meg has been an active member of the Committee of the CIPA Informals, a UK-wide association of junior members of the patent profession. She acted as the editor of the official blog of the association, the ‘Yellow Sheets’.
