J A Kemp Partner, Ian MacLeod, will be speaking at the Microbiome Therapeutics conference in Paris in March. Running alongside Bio-Europe, where J A Kemp will be exhibiting, this event will bring the brightest minds in microbiome therapeutic development together.

Ian will be discussing how recent developments affect opportunities, challenges and best strategies for building patent portfolios protecting microbiome therapeutics. He will cover building patent portfolios that protect microbiome therapeutics in a robust manner and thus provide valuable commercial assets can present challenges. In particular, bacterial products are far more complex than small molecule drugs and antibodies, for example, and it is not yet settled how bacteria are best defined in patent claims. However, recent patent cases can provide some much-needed guidance and creative patent drafting strategies utilising input from technical and commercial teams can generate strong and flexible patent portfolios that fully support commercial development of microbiome therapeutics.
