Symposium on Intellectual Property in China Hosted by J A Kemp
On Wednesday 24 February J A Kemp hosted an event organised by the Oxford Science Park at which the keynote speaker was Tom Duke, the UK 's IP Attach?? to China since 2011. Based in the British Embassy in Beijing, Tom spends the majority of his time working alongside UKTI, the British diplomatic network and UK and EU-level industry associations to support IP reforms in priority areas for UK businesses.
The subject of the symposium was intellectual property (IP) in China. The event attracted 50 delegates from the local business and scientific communities, all keen to understand more about doing business in China.
The symposium was opened by Ian Macpherson from the Oxford Science Park. The main themes of the symposium were filing, protecting and defending intellectual property rights in China and included talks by J A Kemp partners Amanda Simons, Ben Mooneapillay and Tom Carver. The evening concluded with a presentation from Senior Vice-President of Oxford-based, Intralink, Jeremy Shaw who talked about ways UK businesses can increase their attractiveness to Chinese corporate investors and partners.
