J A Kemp Partner Tom Carver Speaking at the Patent Information Annual Conference of China (PIAC) 2016
J A Kemp Partner and Solicitor Tom Carver will be speaking at the Patent Information Annual Conference of China (PIAC) 2016, which is being held this year in Beijing on 19-20 September. Tom is chairing a breakout session titled New Forms of Patent Monetization; Part 2 Europe: Next Main Venue for Patent Transactions? in the morning session on Tuesday 20 September. Tom was chosen to speak on this topic in his capacity as a member of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London.
Tom lived in China for three years, where he managed intellectual property enforcement for Western clients, including Dyson. He is named as an expert by the China IPR SME Helpdesk and his experience includes patent (design, utility and invention), trade secret, trade mark and copyright litigation against companies in provinces across China in sectors including capital and consumer goods, cosmetics and medical devices. He also has experience of non-judicial IPR enforcement in China at trade fairs, online and by Customs seizures.
Launched in 2010, PIAC is committed to building up a platform of international cooperation and communication for patent professionals. In 2015, the conference welcomed over 3,000 participants, including in-house counsels, IP attorneys, patent experts and patent information service providers. The 2016 conference is set to be the biggest in PAIC 's history.
