Bioinformatics – Do Patents Help?
It’s boom times for bioinformatics, but how do you protect your R&D investment in an increasingly competitive market? In traditional fields the answer is patents; but are patents desirable, or even possible, for bioinformatics inventions?
In this webinar we will cover why you (probably) can patent bioinformatics, and the factors to consider in preparing a patent application to keep on the right side of patent law. But being able to get a patent does not mean it is necessarily right for your business. We will consider the pros and cons of patents for bioinformatics in light of invention disclosure requirements, especially for inventions employing artificial intelligence, and look at when trade secrets may be a better option.
