Alex Henderson

Alex is a European and UK Patent Attorney. He joined J A Kemp as an Associate in 2023, having previously spent six years at another leading patent firm.

Alex has experience at all stages of the patent life cycle, and routinely works on and advises clients in relation to identifying inventions, drafting applications, EPO patent prosecution, managing global patent portfolios, EPO oppositions, and supplementary protection certificates and paediatric extensions.

Alex usually works within the chemistry discipline and he is particularly interested in pharmaceuticals. In particular, he has wide-ranging experience handling and advising on patent applications to new chemical entities, enantiomers, polymorphs, and medical uses.

Alex has a Master’s degree and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol. For his PhD, Alex focused on organic chemistry and researched carbohydrate-based nitrogen-heterocyclic carbene ligands for asymmetric catalysis.
