Jessica Eastwood
Jessica is a European and UK Patent Attorney. Jessica joined J A Kemp as an Associate in 2024, having previously spent 5 years at another private practice firm.
Jessica has experience in management of large global patent portfolios as well as prosecution of European patent applications in the pharmaceutical field, primarily relating to small molecules, polymorphs, formulations, and medical uses. She has also drafted patent applications relating to drug discovery and clinical trials, and advised in developing and adapting IP strategies across multiple jurisdictions to align with changing commercial objectives. She also spent a few months during her training on a secondment working in a university technology transfer team.
Her scientific background has involved theoretical and practical experience across organic chemistry, including medicinal chemistry, transition metal catalysis, and structure elucidation techniques. She has a variety of experience in the pharmaceutical industry from lead identification through to scaleup and process development.
Jessica graduated from the University of Oxford in 2015 with a first-class Master’s degree in Chemistry, for which she completed a year-long research project developing multisubstituted aryl ring-forming reactions. She then went on to undertake three years of research in organic chemistry at the University of Bristol, during which she developed regioselective and asymmetric iridium-catalysed C-H alkylation methodologies.
