Kathryn Baker

Kathryn joined J A Kemp in 2024 as a trainee patent attorney and is based in the firm’s London office.

Kathryn achieved a first-class integrated Masters degree in Chemistry at the University of Oxford. Alongside the core modules, she completed quantum chemistry and chemical crystallography supplementary papers. She was awarded the Bourrie-Hamilton scholarship.

Her research project focussed on using Machine Learning potentials for simulations of chemical systems. Specifically, she built neural network models to simulate systems of carbon and silicon atoms under different conditions and explored the effect of chemical pre-training on the performance of the models.
