1 October 2014 Changes Coming into Effect Following the IP Act 2014

With immediate effect (1 October 2014), the first set of changes to designs law in United Kingdom brought about by the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Act 2014 have been implemented. These include changes dealing with presumed design ownership, the protection afforded to a prior user of a design in the case of an alleged infringement and, criminal provisions dealing with intentional copying of a registered design.

The UK Intellectual Property Office have produced a useful guide for business which can be found here.

If you require any advice regarding these changes please contact one of our Designs Team members.
