Alexandra Yates
Alexandra is a European Patent Attorney and is based in our London office.
Alexandra joined J A Kemp as a trainee patent attorney in 2020. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery MBChB from the University of Sheffield in which she achieved distinction in the Student Selected Components and was awarded the Knowelden Essay Prize. During her medical studies she gained knowledge in a wide range of medical and surgical specialties including cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and neurology, and completed specialised projects in reconstructive plastic surgery, cardiac surgery and ophthalmology. She delivered a national surgical conference and secured a highly regarded two-month elective placement in a plastic surgery department in Cape Town, South Africa.
Alexandra also holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Materials from Queen Mary University of London, gaining knowledge in fields including tissue mechanics, computational modelling, surgical electronics and tissue engineering. In her research project she developed a novel protocol for the use of computational modelling to link skull microstructure to deformation mechanics in craniofacial trauma.
