David Nicholls

David is a European and UK Patent Attorney. He has a first-class Master of Science degree in Physics with study in continental Europe and a PhD in Physics, both from the University of Bristol. He spent several years working as a research scientist in the Advanced Optoelectronic Devices group at Sharp Laboratories of Europe Ltd. before entering the patent profession in 2011.

David has a wide range of experience in a variety of different technical areas for clients from small start-ups to multinational companies. In particular, he has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent inventions relating to software and physics-based technologies, including, for example, mobile devices, wireless networking and LEDs.

David joined J A Kemp as an Associate in 2023 and is based in the firm’s Oxford office.
