Henry Male

Associate, European and UK Patent Attorney, European Patent Litigator

Henry is a European and UK Patent Attorney based in our London office. Henry works across a broad range of chemical technologies, with experience spanning small molecule pharmaceuticals, coating technologies, fuels and lubricants, carbon-capture, and food and beverage science. He also works with a wide variety of clients, including multinational pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies, university technology transfer offices, SMEs, and non-European attorneys. He has a particular depth of experience in working for Japanese companies and IP firms.

Henry is highly experienced in the drafting and prosecution of chemical patent applications, both in front of the European Patent Office and around the world. He is also routinely involved in contentious proceedings in front of the European Patent Office, both in offensive and defensive roles. He further provides due diligence, freedom-to-operate, and filing strategy advice.

Henry’s technical expertise lies in synthetic organic chemistry. He holds a PhD in the development and use of catalytic methods for organic transformations. He also has an academic background in inorganic chemistry, biological chemistry and biochemistry/molecular biology. He is therefore particularly comfortable working at the intersection between biology and chemistry.

Henry joined J A Kemp in 2017. He became an associate in 2022.
