Holly Smith

Holly joined J A Kemp in 2025 as a Trainee Patent Attorney from another leading patent firm and is based in the firm’s Oxford office.

Holly has gained experience in patent drafting and prosecution for a range of subject matter in the biotech field, including antibodies, cell and gene therapy, and immunology.

Before joining the profession, Holly obtained a BA in Biological Sciences and a MSc in Immunology at the University of Oxford. During her MSc she undertook a research project at The Jenner Institute, where she developed a bivalent viral vector vaccine against RSV and Influenza and undertook preclinical trials to assess the immunogenicity of the vaccine.

She subsequently joined the Oxford Vaccine Group as a member of the team developing the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. She undertook clinical serology studies to investigate the humoral immune response to the ChAdOx1 nCov-19 vaccine, contributing to multiple papers published in journals such as The Lancet and Nature Communications.
