Josephine Pepper

Associate, European and UK Patent Attorney

Josie is a European and UK Patent Attorney with experience in handling complex contentious matters as well as patent drafting and prosecution. Having recently moved to Cambridge, she enjoys helping founders and start-ups in the Cambridgeshire and London area to build their early- and growth-stage IP strategy, as well as working with established and multi-national innovators on large portfolios. Josie was Highly Commended at the Cambridgeshire Law Society Legal Excellence Awards in 2024.

With particular expertise in microbiology, molecular genetics and immunology, Josie works with technologies spanning agri-biotech to synthetic biology to cancer therapy. Josie holds a first-class MBiochem in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, graduating seventh in her year-group. While at University, she studied in lab placements and specialist exchange programmes abroad in Europe and the US.

Josie also has a keen interest in the role of technology and innovation in climate change and biosecurity. She recently coordinated our COP28 series. Josie also sits on the Sustainability Committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.

Josie became an associate in 2024 and she is based in the firm's Cambridge office.
