Quantum Technology

Quantum technologies harness the quantum properties of matter to provide new functionalities and have seen major advances in recent years. Quantum computing is a particularly active area, with systems of increasing scale being developed that promise to revolutionize a range of technology areas in the future, from machine learning and simulations through to drug design and cryptography.

Practical implementation is extremely difficult, particularly at scale, and innovations in this area can require cutting edge techniques and knowledge in a range of disciplines, often with timescales to commercialisation that are longer than in other technology fields. These factors combine to present unique challenges for IP strategy.

J A Kemp is well placed to meet these challenges by having a wide experience of working with inventors in this area, as well as being able to draw on a pool of attorneys having the right capabilities, including many having worked as researchers in relevant academic fields such as solid state physics and superconductivity.
